D. Cameron Montgomery III., Ph. D.

Biographical Sketch

 

Most Recent Position:  Currently Professor of Marketing and Holder of the Tim’s Distinguished  Chair of Free Enterprise at Delta State University. Dr. Montgomery has taught at Delta State University since 1994. Before that he taught for four years at the University of Mississippi while working on his doctorate in business administration. Prior to entering the field of education, Dr. Montgomery was in securities sales for fourteen years and in sales management for ten years. 

 

Areas of Specialization: Dr. Montgomery currently teaches business statistics, consumer behavior, strategic marketing, services marketing, sales management, sports marketing and internet marketing. He has also taught advertising, marketing research and principles of marketing while at Delta State. In 1999, Dr Montgomery taught at the Western University in Baku, Azerbaijan for several months. He has published and presented over thirty articles and papers in his academic career. His research interests include stress and burnout in sales, consumer shopping behavior, attitudes towards online courses, validation of research scales, and survey research and analysis. Dr. Montgomery has developed a number of online courses and is currently teaching several online courses and has plans to teach more in the near future.

 

Primary Publications: Dr Montgomery’s research has been published in the Journal of Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction and Complaining Behavior, Psychology and Marketing, The Journal of Professional Services Marketing, and the Journal of the Association of  Business and Behavioral Sciences. He has presented papers at Southern Marketing Association, Atlantic Marketing Association, the Society of Business, Industry and Economics, and the Association of Business and Behavioral Sciences.

 

Education: Dr. Montgomery is a native of Greenville, Mississippi where he currently resides.  He graduated from Woodberry Forest High School in Orange Virginia in 1967. He attended Vanderbilt University from 1967-1969. He has a BBA degree from Delta State University in 1972,  an MBA degree from Mississippi State University in 1974 and holds a P.hd from the University of Mississippi in Business Administration in 1994 with a major in marketing and a minor in psychology and management.

 

Personal: Professor Montgomery has two children; Cameron Montgomery IV, and Drew James Montgomery. Dr. Montgomery’s hobbies include golf, tennis, attending college football games, cooking and travel.
